Salt is something that I suppose most everyone uses.
I salt my food when I’m cooking and again most of the time when I’m eating. I know, I know, you don’t have to tell me I shouldn’t do that.
Have you tried eating without salt? I have, pretty bland for my taste buds.
I realize there are people who are on a salt-restricted diet for health purposes. I can truthfully say, I really feel sorry for those folks.
Who knows I may end up eating no salt someday, but as of now I sure enjoy salt on my food.
I love watermelon, salt makes it better, I believe so!
However, watermelon is one food that I can eat with no salt.

Those fresh tomatoes that we have gotten from the garden have been so delicious this year, of course, I put salt on them!
Over the years I have learned to keep a sandwich bag of salt packets in my car. Just in case they are left out of the bag again. You know sometimes it pays to think ahead.
Salt is being used plentifully as the canning season of this year’s harvest is underway. Some things just require salt.
Just a few days ago, as we were traveling, we stopped at a food establishment to eat dinner. We ordered our food, and the vittles served before the meal were so good and actually a meal within itself. Our meal was set before us, and we ate and talked about how delicious the food was.
Then, as I was finishing my meal, I remembered I had used no extra salt at all. Wow, I couldn’t believe it!
Was the food seasoned just right or what?
I wonder if somehow we too are being used as some sort of salt in this life. Scripture says so. Are we adding anything positive to someone else’s life, or are we being seen as a bland individual who is not making an impact on anyone?
Bible Verse of the Week
“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.”
Matthew 5:13
